Mindemoya, ON – Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) is pleased to welcome new healthcare providers to the community, further strengthening access to care across the Island.
Beginning the week of May 4, Dr. Kristina Barabas, Dr. Jun Park, and Registered Dietitian Jenelle McAuley will be joining the Manitoulin Central Family Health Team, bringing valuable experience and a shared commitment to patient-centred care.
Dr. Jun Park brings over a decade of experience providing healthcare services across Northern Ontario. He completed medical school in the United States and his residency training in Ottawa before beginning his work in rural communities. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Park has provided locum services to many northern and rural towns and has held staff physician positions in both Wawa and Manitouwadge. His strong understanding of rural healthcare and northern communities will be a valuable asset in supporting patients across Manitoulin Island.
Dr. Kristina Barabas pursued her undergraduate medical training at the University of Debrecen in Hungary before returning to Ontario to complete her Family Medicine residency through the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). Her training spanned Thunder Bay, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, and Mindemoya. Since completing her residency, Dr. Barabas has worked as a rural locum in both Southwestern and Northern Ontario, including on Manitoulin Island, in inpatient and outpatient settings. Her areas of interest include hospitalist medicine, long-term care, and palliative care in rural contexts. At this time, she will be providing support to existing patients.
Joining the team as a Registered Dietitian, Jenelle McAuley brings a strong background in clinical nutrition and community health. She has extensive experience providing individualized nutrition counselling across outpatient, primary care, and community settings. Jenelle supports patients with a wide range of needs, including cardiovascular health, diabetes, metabolic conditions, and pediatric nutrition, and is committed to helping individuals achieve improved health outcomes through practical, personalized care.
“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Barabas, Dr. Park, and Jenelle McAuley to our team,” said Dr. Maurianne Reade. “Their experience and dedication will be a valuable addition to the care we provide to our patients and community.”
Manitoulin Island is proud to welcome these new providers and looks forward to the contributions they will make to patient care. This milestone reflects the collective efforts of local partners and the community in supporting and strengthening healthcare on the Island.
