Temporary Closure of Mindemoya Emergency Department – March 15, 2026

MINDEMOYA, ON  -  Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) is advising the community of a temporary closure of the Emergency Department at the Mindemoya site due to a physician shortage.  
 

The closure will occur on Sunday, March 15, 2026, during the following period:

 

Mindemoya Site Emergency Department

 

  • Closed: Sunday, March 15 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Reopening: Sunday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m.

 

Regular 24-hour emergency services will resume at 7:00 p.m.

 

During this time, all other hospital services at the Mindemoya site will continue to operate as usual.

 

Manitoulin Health Centre continues to work with healthcare partners to explore all possible options to maintain safe access to care and secure physician coverage.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. Ambulances will be re-routed to the nearest available emergency department.

Please note: Eating or drinking by visitors is not permitted in patient care areas. When entering the patient care unit, visitors will be required to sign a visitor’s expectation sheet. All outpatient lab services will continue by appointment only for the time being.
