On average the Manitoulin Health Centre sees more than 9,500 patients annually with emergency room visits (based on stats for 2018-2019; 2019-2020 and 2020-2021). The Mindemoya Emergency Department accounts for 49% of those visitors. The number of emergency department visits increases by more than 3% during the months of July and August.
The Mindemoya Site of MHC dates back to the early 1930’s. Over the years, many improvements have been made to the site but it is now time to target the Emergency Department with our LET’S EMERG TOGETHER campaign.
The renovations include creating a clean sight line to patient areas from the nursing station; greater patient confidentiality during a visit; a dedicated mental health observation suite; an extra bed in the trauma area; a larger chemotherapy suite and an infectious disease suite, complete with anteroom.
