POSITION SUMMARY
The Technology Solutions Specialist (TSS) ensures optimum functionality in day-to-day technology operations by monitoring the technical infrastructure, defining requirements for ongoing improvements, and implementing solutions that align with industry best practice. The TSS will be responsible for supporting Network and Data Centre assets and for executing Cyber Security processes within the organization. The TSS will work closely with the IT Manager, Vendors, Consultants and Regional Partners to establish and/or maintain technical, and security baselines set by Ontario Health or other regional governance structures. The TSS will provide Tier II support to end users on an as-needed basis in alignment with the Technical Solutions Support Analyst.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications, Experience, Licensure)
Required:
- University Degree or Community College Diploma in Information Systems
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transportation
Preferred:
- Experience with MEDITECH
- Training in LEAN principles and CQI
- Experience in a healthcare setting in a related position
- Certifications to support technical competencies
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applications, Systems, and Networks
- Administer servers
- Monitor Storage Area Networks and Backups
- Install and configure new network equipment, troubleshoot, and resolve system and network problems
- Install and configure operating systems and applications
- Liaise with vendors and third parties for technical support
- Provide telephony support for VOIP network
- Liaise with MHC Environmental Services department for installations, cabling requirements, etc.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to technical infrastructure
- Test and evaluate new technology
- Other duties as assigned
Planning
- Prepare draft technical writing of manuals and policies and procedures
- Assess, document, and keep IT assets up to date
- Provide technical recommendations for procurement to IT Manager and Manitoulin Collaborative partners
- Review and make recommendations to standardize IT policies and procedures across the Manitoulin Collaborative
- Remain current with changes in technology and promote new technology where it is beneficial for MHC and/or its partners
- Stay informed on regional activity/requirements through Committee membership as defined by the IT Manager

- Proficiency in several Operating System Platforms: Windows, Linux, Cisco iOS
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server
- Proficiency with Enterprise level firewalls, Anti-virus, anti-malware software
- Proficiency with SIEM and other logging tools
- Proficiency in WAN, LAN, WLAN, VOIP
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365
- Proficiency in technical writing of manuals and, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of ADT, HL7, DICOM an asset
- Knowledge of Hospital Information Systems or Electronic Medical Records an asset
WAGES:
- Starting wage: $41.22-44.82 per hour based on experience
