POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of an inter-professional Health Care team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care to medical/surgical/obstetrical and emergency patients. The RN is also required to provide supervision in the Charge Nurse role as scheduled.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications, Experience, Licensure)
Required:
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum of 2 years hospital experience to include cardiac, emergency care and acute care areas
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or commitment to obtain within 2 months
- Completed CTAS (Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale) course; or willingness to obtain
- Completed OBS training
- Current ACLS certification
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office and Meditech applications
- Experience in the role of Charge Nurse
- Ability to provide regular attendance
Preferred:
- Current Certifications: PALS, ATLS/TNCC, palliative care, ECG Interpretation, and other continued nursing education
- Ability to function calmly in emergency situations, good public relations skills, good rapport with community, medical staff and co-workers, self-directed and motivated, flexible in daily work routines

- Knowledge of infection control and screening
- Proficiency in computer software applications – Microsoft Outlook; Meditech Order Entry, Pharmacy, Admitting, PCS, EMR; Up-to-date; Order Sets; Policy and Procedure; LMS; Patient Care Solution
- Proficiency in administrative duties
- Proficiency in Nurse-in-Charge duties
SELECTION PROCESS
- Nurses shall be selected based on their skill, ability, experience and qualifications. Where these factors are relatively equal, seniority shall govern.
