POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Clerk is responsible for the administration of employee benefits, related human resources and accounting functions, and providing administrative support to the Manager of Human Resources and Occupational Health/Infection Control Nurse.
JOB DUTIES:
Employee Benefits
Pension plan, extended health, dental, group life, accidental death and dismemberment, Canada Savings Bonds, union dues, etc.:
- Process enrolments, terminations, leaves, claims, and changes to beneficiary and other information
- Distribute forms, newsletters, information, booklets and statements
- Assist with preparation of year end HOOPP report
- Attend OHA Disability Management teleconferences
Human Resources
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of vacation entitlement lists, holiday and vacation bank reconciliation, sick banks, attendance statistics and seniority lists
- Perform the duties of Master Educator for online LMS (Learning Management System)
- Type contracts, policies and memos
- Photocopy documents as required
- Prepare responses to job applicants
- Prepare WSIB Form 7, for accident claims
- Prepare/update recruitment material
- Prepare weekly report for Acclaim file review and maintain records for employee health leaves
- Greet visitors to department and identify service requirements
- Perform recruitment activities such as screening, reference checks, booking interviews etc.
- Other human resource related duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES/TECHNICAL:
- Advanced proficiency in computer software applications: Microsoft Office, Policy and Procedures platform and Learning Management System, Parklane, Keyscan
- Typing speed minimum of 40 wpm
- Knowledge of CUPE, ONA, OPSEU and IUOE collective agreements
- Knowledge of employee pension and benefit plans
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Strong numerical skills
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications, Experience, Licensure):
Required:
- College diploma in a related field
- 3+ years of HR Generalist or Clerk experience, preferably in a unionized or hospital environment
Preferred:
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP)
